Research Assistant/Associate in Living Construction
Overview
This position is within the Living Construction theme, which is one of four research themes in the Hub for the Biotechnology in the Built Environment. The theme works to combine biological growth and digital fabrication to develop functional biomaterials for built environment and wider applications. The group is currently working with bacterial cellulose, mycelium-based materials and microbially induced minerals. The vision of the group is to incorporate engineered living systems into the fabrication process.
You will work on highly collaborative and interdisciplinary projects, using synthetic biology approaches to engineer the living systems to produce the functional materials of interests. Additionally, you will support researchers from design, architecture and engineering background to develop fabrication processes which will incorporate the engineered living systems you develop.

Salary:
Research Assistant: £28,756 – £30,497 per annum
Research Associate: £31,406 – £40,927 per annum
Start Date and duration: The post is full-time, fixed-term from earliest available start date through to 31 March 2023.
