Special Interest Group: Mycology for Architecture
Mycology for Architecture (MycoTecture) is a collaborative to share knowledge and ideas about fungi and their role in the architectural field. The aim is to allow those working with fungi as a biomaterial to help each other, find individual collaborators, and publish a follow up book as an end product of the presentations.
Each month starting from July 2021 we will focus on a different method and purpose of producing/using mycelium materials, inviting a variety of people and groups leading the field. The topics would cover a range including:
· digital fabrication of mycelium
· 3D Printing mycelium composites
· mycelium simulation
· fungal electronics
· building a lab for mycelium work
· mycelium in circular economy & sustainability
· mycelium composites as thermal and acoustic insulators
· ... & many more will follow!
The talks will be shared via the HBBE-YouTube channel.
This Special Interest Group MycoTecture is lead by Dilan Ozkan.
