Sunbin Lee

PhD Candidate


Sunbin is a designer and researcher pursuing bio-integration in architecture across multiple scales and perspectives. His primary focus is exploring living matter in architecture from nano, micro to macro-scale by applying advanced biotechnology, synthetic biology, material sciences, and computation; as well as digital fabrication through utilisation of microspecies such as algae, slime mould and bacteria. His works have been exhibited at Biofabricate 2015, Bartlett Seoul Show 2018.

Before joining Newcastle. He worked at Benoy, Pattern Design and studio A.T.E.[N.A] (Advanced Technological and Experimental Narrative Architecture) in London. Sunbin holds a master's degree at the Bartlett, UCL with MArch AD Architectural Design BiotA Lab (Biotechnology and Architecture).
