Sonia Santos
PhD Candidate
Sónia F. G. Santos is passionate about nature and dreams of having a positive impact on the environment. Currently, she holds a PhD position at HBBE and her research is focused on developing biotechnologies capable of creating living buildings through computational enzyme engineering and using the directed evolution approach. The aim is to improve the catalytic efficiency, substrate scope, thermostability, and enhanced regio and stereoselectivity of the enzymes. These improved enzymes will be incorporated into the developing biotechnologies for the creation of the living building.
Sónia had graduated in Biotechnology at Coimbra Higher School of Agriculture and did a master degree in Biochemistry at Faculty of Sciences and Technologies of Coimbra University.
