How to grow concrete and other building materials?
HBBE Co-Director Martyn Dade-Robertson about the possibilites of Self-healing Concrete and Constructing with Biomaterials
In conversation with Sarah Griffiths (E&T Magazine), Hendrik Jonkers (Professor of bio-adapted and sustainable building materials at Delft University of Technology, Netherlands) and Wil Srubar (Professor of architectural engineering and materials science, University of Colorado Boulder) HBBE Co-Director Martyn Dade Robertson was disscussing possible architectural futures.
The Group shared latest trends and opportunities about sustainable substitutes for conventional materials, self-healing concrete and outlooks in the field of biological construction. Martyn Dade-Robertson also introduced the Thinking Soils project, which is researching on bacteria in soil that can detect mechanical pressure to create a self-constructing foundation.
